Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz on Thursday trashed the idea that GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump understands the middle class.
The Minnesota governor drew a stark contrast at a rally in Durham, North Carolina, between Trump at his Mar-a-Lago home telling his “rich as hell” friends he’d give them a tax cut and his own mother using her Social Security checks to feed herself and “get things done.”
The former president “doesn’t give a damn if his Social Security check comes or not,” said Walz. Then he added, “So let’s be very clear. If any of our relatives or anyone gives us this, if they tell us, ‘Well, Donald Trump understands us,’ that’s bullshit.”
“He does not understand you. He does not understand you,” Walz added.
Walz later apologized for the profanity.
“Look. You know it. All right, for the little ones here, I’m a teacher. I’m sorry about that. I got carried away,” he said.
