Shazam on iPhone Can Now Sync All ID’d Music to Spotify or Apple Music, but You Need to Do This

The popular music recognition app Shazam is making it even easier to check out the music you tag, thanks to a recent app update for your iPhone.

All Recognized Tracks Will Sync to an Apple Music or Spotify Playlist

Previously, before the app update, all songs you recognized using the app’s main menu were saved to a playlist on Spotify or Apple Music. However, songs tagged using other methods didn’t appear in that playlist.

But now with the update, all music found through Control Center, Siri, and Shortcuts will be available to listen to in the “My Shazam Tracks” playlist on either streaming music service.

To make sure everything works just fine, you will need to open the Shazam app and select the Settings cog on the top left-hand side of the screen. If you don’t see it, drag the menu up from the bottom of the screen.

In either the Apple Music or Spotify box, toggle Sync your songs off and on to re-sync all previously discovered songs from the Shazam app. If you sync with Spotify, you might need to reopen the app to see the refreshed playlist.

While you’re in the Settings menu, head down to iCloud sync and make sure it’s turned on. With that, your Shazam history will sync between your devices and always be available.

While I’ve always been a huge fan of Shazam’s music recognition magic, I mostly use it through Siri and a Control Center widget. So I’m thrilled to see I can now just quickly recognize a song and come back to it later in a specific playlist.

I tried using the new feature with Siri and through Control Center, and the songs were immediately available in my playlist.

Shazam Is More Than Music Recognition

While it is most well-known for its uncannily fast and accurate music recognition, the Shazam app provides much more that you might be missing out on.

With Auto Shazam, the app will continuously recognize songs heard in different environments. The feature is designed to be battery-efficient. You can also use the Shazam app to find upcoming concerts nearby.
