Energy customers stung with rising prices could save hundreds on their bill at weekends with ScottishPower as it launches 50% off at weekends, saving you up to £300 a year.
Energy prices shot up by 10% on 1 October and prices for those on standard variable tariffs will rise again by 1.2% in January 2025, confirmed by the latest Ofgem energy price cap.

Who can get ScottishPower’s half-price weekends deal?
If you have a smart meter you can apply for the 50% off weekend deal with ScottishPower.
The deal is available to new and existing customers with a working smart meter that sends accurate half-hourly meter readings.
You’ll need an online account with ScottishPower and must opt-in for the offer.
Your savings will appear as a ‘Power Saver credit’ on your bill. The discount will apply to the unit rate, but you will still pay full standing charges.
You’re not eligible for this scheme if are signed up for any of the following:
- Fixed energy tariff
- Prepayment meter
- ScottishPower’s Heat Pump Saver tariffs
- EV Optimise tariff
Andrew Ward, chief executive of ScottishPower’s customer business, said, “We know our customers are savvy when it comes to managing their energy use. We’re driving initiatives to help reduce bills, especially at this time of year when people are using more energy and the new price cap comes into force. Through half-price weekends, we hope to raise awareness of the benefits of using less electricity at peak times and encourage shifting usage to other days where they can.”
When is ScottishPower’s half-price energy available?
ScottishPower customers who use a smart meter will be eligible for half-price electricity during weekends this winter.
This discount will run from 11am to 4pm every Saturday and Sunday from 1 December to 30 April 2025.
Is ScottishPower’s 50% off deal worth it?
If you’re a customer and are eligible for the discount, then it makes good sense to take advantage.

While we do not know whether energy prices will fall in 2025, experts have predicted prices will remain stable.
