New York City police commissioner expected to resign amid corruption probe

New York Police Commissioner Edward Caban is expected to resign a week after it came to light that federal authorities had raided his home, according to US media reports.

The federal government has launched multiple criminal probes into the city government, investigating officials including Caban, the city’s first Latino police commissioner.

If he leaves, New York City Mayor Eric Adams will need to appoint someone to lead the world’s largest police force for a third time in less than three years.

The NYPD and the New York City mayor’s office did not respond to requests for comment.
