MacBook Air with M4 & Mac Studio with M4 Max, M3 Ultra arrive

Mac Studio with M4 Max and M3 Ultra is here

Apple’s latest Macs with updated Apple Silicon are arriving in customer’s homes, which include the new, blue MacBook Air and more powerful Mac Studio.

The new Macs were announced via press release after CEO Tim Cook’s brief tease the week prior. While these are basic spec bump upgrades, they’re also a sign of Apple’s continued commitment to regular updates.

Apple didn’t do much to upgrade the MacBook Air beyond adding M4 and the improved 12MP webcam with Center Stage. It also swapped the space gray option for a new blue color.

Externally it’s still the same machine that comes in a 13-inch and 15-inch size. Customers can get up to 32GB of RAM and 2TB of storage depending on how the device is configured.

Reviews of the MacBook Air talked of the new barely-blue color and the minimal updates. The new lower starting price will likely be a hit for the education market.

There’s also the new Mac Studio with M4 Max or M3 Ultra. The strange generational gap between the chipsets may cause some confusion, but know that the M3 Ultra is still a more powerful chip with specs to show for it.

Regardless of the chipset chosen, customers get Thunderbolt 5 ports. The upgrade path has an incredible range with up to 512GB of RAM and 16TB of storage.

Apple’s current most powerful desktop was praised by reviewers for its high-end power. It does leave some question about what the plan is for Mac Pro and if it will see an update in 2025.

Customers could begin pre ordering the MacBook Air and Mac Studio immediately after the press release. The MacBook Air with M4 starts at $999 and the Mac Studio with M4 Max starts at $1,999 and they are available now.
