Live updates: US discusses Ukraine war with Russia; GOP stalemate mounts as shutdown deadline looms

With less than a month until a mid-March deadline to fund the government, the Senate on Tuesday said it would take up its version of budget legislation this week.

The budget talk will follow consideration of more of President Trump’s nominees, including Howard Lutnick for Commerce and his pick for FBI director, Kash Patel.

Earlier Tuesday, the Trump administration met on in Saudi Arabia with Russian officials to discuss an end to Russia’s three-year war in Ukraine — but no delegation from Kyiv took part.

And in the day, Trump will sit down with Fox News’s Sean Hannity alongside tech billionaire and ally Elon Musk.
