Hong Kong hiker, 90, found safe after failing to return home for 2 days

A 90-year-old Hong Kong hiker who failed to return home for two days was found safe in a Tai Po village on Tuesday.

Ng Sek-wu reportedly left his residence on Chuk Yuen Road in Wong Tai Sin on Sunday morning for a hike near Wu Kau Tang in the popular Plover Cove Country Park.

Ng did not return home that night. He called his wife on Monday night but did not provide his location, a police spokesman said.

His family requested police help at 12.50pm on Tuesday.

Rescuers from several departments gathered at a Wu Kau Tang car park to begin a search in the afternoon with assistance from a government helicopter.

Ng was found by a villager in Tai Po’s Kau Tam Cho, about 200 metres from Wu Kau Tang, at around 3pm.
