US defense secretary Pete Hegseth has blamed the media for reports he shared military plans to an unclassified Signal chat. Hegseth tried to discredit the Atlantic editor, Jeffrey Goldberg, who was added to the Signal chat by national security adviser Mike Waltz and reported on the texts. Heseth said Goldberg was ‘deceitful’ and a ‘discredited so-called journalist’
