Epic Games switches to weekly free Android games

The Epic Games Store on Android initially launched with over 30 games and a monthly selection of free offerings, though the storefront offers a weekly title on PC. The company announced that it would be switching over to weekly free offers, starting off with two new titles.

The Epic Games Store doesn’t come as a typical Play Store install on Android. Rather, it needs to be installed via the Epic Games website. From there, games can be installed to your Android device. This comes as an alternative to the Google Play Store in order to accommodate developers better, according to Epic Games.

When it launched, the storefront noted that free games would be offered on a monthly basis. Epic Games has since reversed that decision and will now be offering free Android games on a weekly basis, which lines up with how free games are offered on the PC store. It’s a nice way to draw attention, and many of the games added in the past on the PC store have come as high-end titles.

Both Super Meat Boy Forever and Eastern Exorcist are joining the library of titles as free to download from the Epic Games Store on Android. They’ll be available at no cost until March 27, when the company will rotate out for different titles. The company also added 13 more games to the library, expanding it to over 40 games within the past couple of months. That’s impressive growth for a new expansion into mobile.
