President Donald Trump said the one commendable trait of ex-President Joe Biden was his ability to nap on the beach while the press filmed him.
“The only thing I totally admired about sleepy Joe Biden is the following: He’d go to a beach, he’d lay down on a cot — barely able to get his feet through the sand — he’d lay down and within minutes he’s sleeping and you have cameras watching him,” Trump told Fox News host Laura Ingraham in an interview segment that aired Wednesday.
Meanwhile video played of a 2023 Biden beach outing in which the former president caught some rays and some zzz’s.
“I could never do that,” Trump said. “I would never be able to sleep like that. That’s about the only thing that I think that was wonderful. It was a disaster, this man was a disaster.”
Of course Trump never intended his commentary to be a compliment. Ingraham had asked him what he does when he can’t sleep, so Trump used the query to shade Biden sunbathing as he has so many times before.
“He spends so much time at the beach,” Trump once said. “I have a much better body than him.”
Trump’s beach-barbing apparently hasn’t done a lot for his self-awareness either.
“The beach doesn’t represent what a president’s supposed to be doing,” he told Tucker Carlson in 2023. “He’s supposed to be working.”
