Colorado Gov. Jared Polis has criticized Biden for putting “his family ahead of the country” by pardoning his son.
The Democrat said that the move was “a bad precedent” and would “tarnish his reputation.”
“Hunter brought the legal trouble he faced on himself, and one can sympathize with his struggles while also acknowledging that no one is above the law, not a president and not a president’s son,” Polis wrote on X.
Rep. Greg Stanton (D-Ariz.) also rebuked Biden, saying the president “got this one wrong.”
“This wasn’t a politically-motivated prosecution. Hunter committed felonies, and was convicted by a jury of his peers,” he wrote.
