Amazon-Backed Anthropic Raises $3.5 Billion in Series E Funding at $61.5 Billion Valuation

Anthropic, the artificial intelligence company backed by Amazon (AMZN, Financials), has secured $3.5 billion in a Series E funding round, bringing its post-money valuation to $61.5 billion.

Lightspeed Venture Partners led the funding; among other investors, Bessemer Venture Partners, Cisco Investments, D1 Capital Partners, Fidelity Management & Research Company, General Catalyst, Jane Street, Menlo Ventures, and Salesforce Ventures participated.

The money will be used to further studies in mechanistic interpretability and alignment, increase Anthropic’s computational capability, and forward its AI development. The corporation also intends to quicken its global growth.

The investment follows the release of Claude 3.7 Sonnet and Claude Code, which have propelled Anthropic’s commercial drive. The most recent version of Claude shows better coding skills, which is a priority point for the business in next months. Anthropic seeks to create artificial intelligence systems able to act as cooperative tools helping teams to organize challenging tasks and synthesize multidisciplinary data.

Amazon has partnered with Anthropic to develop generative artificial intelligence with up to $4 billion in funding. Zoom Video Communications (ZM, Financials), Snowflake (SNOW, Financials), and Pfizer (PFE, Financials) employ Claude’s AI-powered solutions to optimize operations. Thomson Reuters, Novo Nordisk, Cursor, and Codeium have all integrated Anthropic’s technology. Novo Nordisk uses Claude to minimize clinical research report writing time, while Replit’s ” Agent” tool has reportedly increased revenue ten-fold.

Anthropic is still mostly focused on improving its AI models and making sure artificial intelligence stimulates creativity in many different sectors.
