Four Ports and More
You likely have a number of large plug-in chargers in your bag or around the house with a single, or maybe double, port to juice up your iPhone, MacBook, or something else. Anker’s option can help you save space with four ports. There are three USB-C ports and a single USB-A plug.
Two of the USB-C ports can provide up to 140W of power. That’s good enough to easily charge a large, power-hungry MacBook Pro. Anker says you can easily charge a 15-inch MacBook Air from 0 to 50 percent in less than 30 minutes. As a nice touch and something usually not found with other chargers, Anker includes a long, braided 6-foot USB-C cable.
The third USB-C port can charge up to 40W, which is good enough to juice up a smaller device like a smartphone, tablet, or smartwatch. The USB-A plug can provide up to 33W of power.
The charger is smaller than many others I’ve used. It has four ports and can easily fit in my hand. To help save space, the charger prongs fold in when not in use. It weighs just 9.7oz.
When it comes time to start charging, you’ll notice something unique. Instead of ports on the front face of the charger, everything is located on the bottom. It’s an important change for a few reasons you might not have thought about.
Especially when using larger charging blocks, the cords will move around when you pick up the devices. Depending on the power outlet, your charger might end up coming unplugged, which is not exactly good when you’re looking to charge your devices. I’ve had that problem a few times and ended up flocking toward a larger charger that doesn’t plug directly into the outlet.
But that’s no longer an issue with the Anker 140W Charger. I’ve used the charger in a number of outlets with four cords, and it has always stayed put.
After using the charger with ports on the bottom, it’s definitely something I want from every plug-in charging block in the future.
An Informative Screen
When using a multi-port charger, you can’t know for certain that the device is charging unless you manually check it. The Anker option gives you another, much better way to see the device’s charging status. A built-in touchscreen is on the front face of the charger where you’ll usually find the ports.
When starting charging, the screen will show the total power output. Press the small button beneath the screen to toggle to a number of other screens, including specific power output for each port and the charger temperature. Since the charger might be oriented in a landscape position in some cases, you can also toggle the screen’s orientation with a press of the button.
It was very nice to be able to glance across the room and see that all my devices were charging. The screen should definitely come in handy in hotel rooms and offices with power outlets built into desks.
I used the charger to juice up my 15-inch MacBook Air, iPhone 16 Pro Max, Apple Watch, and other smaller electronics, and the charger performed great without any issues. The block got a bit warm, but never hot. The charger continuously monitors the temperature and will adjust if needed.
Should You Buy the Anker 140W Charger?
Finding a multi-port USB-C charger to power up your devices is not hard. But the Anker 140W Charger reinvents the usual charger. The bottom-facing ports make sure that the charger will always stay plugged in. Plus, the information on the touchscreen is useful and can let you know the charging status and more of your devices.
While it costs a little more than other options on the market, its great features, including the ability to charge everything from a smartwatch to a MacBook, make it a must-have choice for road warriors or anyone else.
